Faith over Fear
Few topics stir up emotions like the name Donald J. Trump. Whether you love him, fear him, or stand somewhere in between, one thing remains clear: his presence in American leadership has disrupted the norm. But what if we take a step back and look at the situation through the lens of faith instead of fear? What if this moment in history, as uncomfortable and chaotic as it may seem, is part of a greater plan for the healing and awakening of our nation?
The Broken System
It is no secret that our government has been plagued by corruption. For decades, we have allowed powerful lobbyists and private equity firms to influence politicians and legislation. These same forces have led to dangerous practices, including the poisoning of our food supply with harmful additives and deceptive advertising targeted at our children. These systemic issues have left many of us feeling powerless and fearful of what the future holds for our families.

Disruption as Opportunity
Yet, through this discomfort, a new conversation has emerged. Trump's boldness has, at times, forced long-ignored issues into the spotlight. Actions have been taken to challenge the stranglehold of special interests and lobbyist influence, even if imperfectly. These include
Executive Order 13770, which imposed a five-year lobbying ban on executive branch appointees and a lifetime ban on lobbying for foreign governments
Increased enforcement of the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) to curb foreign influence.
Efforts to reduce prescription drug prices through international price comparisons
Attempts to require greater transparency in lobbying activities.
While his leadership style may not be universally admired, these measures undeniably cracked open the door for critical discussions about accountability, transparency, and sovereignty.
A Beacon of Hope: Dr. Casey Means
A recent, hopeful example is Trump's appointment of Dr. Casey Means as Surgeon General. Dr. Means, a trailblazer in functional medicine and holistic health, has spent years identifying and addressing the root causes of chronic illness. Her vision is nothing short of transformative: a nation where food, air, water, and healthcare systems are structured to support, not sabotage, the well-being of its people. In this sense, her appointment could be seen as a divine alignment—a guardian for our children's futures.
Dr. Means' leadership signals a potential shift: a move away from the reactive sick-care model toward proactive wellness and prevention.
Romans 8:28, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Even in turbulence, there is the possibility of purpose.

What Can You Do?
What can we do as individuals? First, we can listen to what Dr. Means and other visionaries are saying. We can ask ourselves: what issues matter most to me and my family? We must stay informed, vote with wisdom and compassion, and advocate for policies that prioritize the greater good over personal comfort.
We can also stop making excuses to avoid choosing what is best for our families. Common phrases like, "That's what I've always eaten and I survived," ignore a deeper truth. The goal is not simply for our children to survive. Our job isn't just to make sure they reach 18 in one piece—we want our children to THRIVE. We want them to live happy, healthy lives free from preventable diseases. Feeding them the wrong foods and exposing them to harmful air and water sets them up for failure. They deserve so much more than just being alive.
Furthermore, the recipes, ingredients, and food systems of today are not the same as they were for the baby boomer generation. There has been a dramatic increase in chemical additives, synthetic preservatives, and artificial ingredients. For example, according to research, the average American now consumes over 150 pounds of food additives per year, a staggering contrast to previous generations. The food and pharmaceutical industries have changed, and so must our awareness and choices.
Human rights and equality remain foundational, yet the urgent need to protect our children's future health, education, and security must also take center stage. Sometimes, doing what is right for the collective good requires putting aside personal feelings and focusing on what will serve generations to come.
A Call for Unity
No matter where you stand politically, we can all agree on two critical truths: our government needs saving, and our children need protecting. Let us come together—not as divided parties, but as compassionate citizens—with a shared mission to demand accountability, prioritize children's health and future, and challenge the influence of corporate greed and corruption. By uniting over these fundamental values, we ensure that no matter which administration holds office, the pressure remains high to act in alignment with these urgent interests. Our collective voice has the power to guide our nation's leaders toward meaningful, lasting change.

So how does this relate to holistic health?
Finding peace in something you cannot control, such as Donald J. Trump being our president, helps relieve the stress response in the body. Chronic stress is known to disrupt hormone balance, hinder weight loss, weaken the immune system, contribute to anxiety and depression, and worsen inflammation-related illnesses. Reframing difficult truths to see potential good is like considering God's perspective—it offers clarity, calm, and purpose amidst the chaos.
When we stop spiraling in fear and choose to trust that there may be a greater plan, we protect our mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Faith over fear becomes an act of self-care and holistic health. Let us choose faith over fear, hope over despair, and action over apathy as we walk forward together into an uncertain but potentially brighter future.
